No campaigning without tickets: PML MNAs tell Aziz
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) legislators insisted on Wednesday that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain should first announce the PML nominees for the polls instead of asking them to start election campaigns in their constituencies, sources told Daily Times.
During a PML Parliamentary Party meeting at Parliament House, Aziz directed the party legislators to start their election campaigns.
However, the MNAs said they should first be given party tickets so that they could focus on the campaign. To this, Aziz said a party committee would shortlist the candidates and asked the parliamentarians to submit their development schemes to the PM Secretariat as soon as possible. National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Tariq Aziz, PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, chief whip in the National Assembly Nasrullah Dreshak and other senior party leaders would form the committee, sources said.
“You all should be more careful while making statements in the house because the opposition has gone aggressive and wants to highlight non-issues,” the sources quoted Aziz telling the meeting.
